Monte Vista boasts a 34% Advanced Placement participation rate and significant gains on its most recent language and math proficiency tests. These statistics along with the lowest student-teacher ratio in its district (23 to 1) ranked the Monarchs in the top 2500 schools nationally and earned them a silver medal.
"A high school education is imperative for success in both college and a career, and a school's graduation rate is a key indicator of whether students are being effectively prepared for both paths," said Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News. "The 2016 Best High Schools rankings provide students and parents with data-driven information on public schools to help them make better-informed decisions about their education."
Four other schools in the Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD) also received silver medals; West Hills High, Helix Charter High, Valhalla High, and Granite Hills High.
